The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reiterated the government’s dedication to working alongside major players in the international information and broadcasting industry to enhance Nigeria’s system for sharing important news and updates.
This commitment was announced on Monday during talks with leading broadcasting and informational firms at the ongoing National Association of Broadcasters Show 2025 in Las Vegas, United States.
At the event, Idris stated that the Bola Tinubu administration was dedicated to utilizing advanced technologies and obtaining top-tier equipment for federal government media entities to guarantee efficient service provision.
“Effective strategic communication is crucial for making sure that the policies of the Renewed Hope Agenda successfully reach the Nigerian populace,” he emphasized.
The minister further emphasized the government’s intentions to allocate funds for enhancing equipment and substituting old infrastructure within radio, TV, and various other media organizations.
According to the minister, this will improve the dissemination of credible, balanced, and objective information to the public.
Idris further said that the government would explore collaborations and partnerships that would allow local broadcasters to benefit from emerging technologies and industry-specific training opportunities.
During the event, the minister attended exhibitions featuring both hardware and software solutions.
The displayed items comprised broadcast antennas, transmitters, and studio gear, all crucial for boosting broadcasting abilities.
Thomas King, Chairman of KINTRONIC Laboratories and Enrico Vaccari, Chief Operating Officer of Axel Technology SRL, had expressed their organisations’ readiness to partner with the Nigerian government.
Gianluca Baccalini, COO of System Engineering Solutions, along with Khiran Keerodhur, COO of Thomson Broadcast, and several others, showed their dedication to improving Nigeria’s broadcasting sector and supporting regulatory bodies.
Idris is heading a group of agency chiefs from his ministry to attend the NAB event.
The delegation comprised the Managing Director of NAN, Ali Muhammad Ali, along with the Director-General of the Nigeria Television Authority, Salihu Dembos.
The list includes the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Charles Ebuebu, as well as the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Lekan Fadolapo.
Included in the delegation is the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Ndace. According to NAN, the purpose of this gathering is to enhance broadcasting partnerships and establish strategic alliances. The NAB conference, taking place from Saturday through Wednesday, centers around the theme: “Technology, Trends, and the Future.”
NAN further indicates that the forum is concentrating on various subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, cloud visualization, the creator economy, along with sports production and streaming.
