NEW DELHI (AP) — Officials stated on Sunday that the Indian space organization’s attempt to place a new Earth observation satellite into orbit was unsuccessful due to a technical problem with the launch vehicle during the third phase of the flight.
On Sunday morning, the EOS-09 Earth observation satellite was launched aboard the PSLV-C61 rocket from the Sriharikota space center located in southern India.
“During the third phase, we experienced a drop in the chamber pressure within the motor case, which prevented us from completing the mission,” stated V. Narayanan, who leads the Indian Space Research Organisation.
Since the 1960s, India has been engaged in space exploration, launching satellites not only for itself but also for other nations, and achieved success with a satellite orbiting Mars in 2014.
