You can charge it via cable, of course, but it’s also compatible with MagSafe chargers, Qi-certified wireless charging pads, and even the magnetic charging puck used with Apple Watches. If for some reason you don’t have a USB-C cable, buying one from Apple is an option, although any third-party USB-C cable will work just fine.
Why This Matters
Apple’s logic is understandable—many users have USB-C cables already, thanks to their ubiquity in various devices. Since the iPhone 13, Apple has adopted USB-C as the standard connector, which has been a go-to for Android phones for nearly a decade. While the decision to exclude cables might not sit well with everyone, it’s increasingly common in the industry.
In fact, this move could be far more controversial if Apple had opted to stick with the old Lightning connector instead. Thankfully, USB-C makes it easier to find a charging solution.
