Vietnam has claimed a new Guinness World Record for the largest drone light show, featuring 10,518 drones flying in perfect synchronization.
The exhibition held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 28, 2025, marked the 50th anniversary of the South’s Liberation and National Unification.
The verified record, officially acknowledged by Guinness as the “biggest drone light display involving simultaneous flight of multiple drones,” seems to have originated from a practice session before an intended public event scheduled for April 30, which was subsequently canceled.

reports Reddit users speculated that the cancellation followed public criticism over advertising placements by digital payments firm VNPay during a national holiday.
Reports suggest that eliminating the advertisements might have led to problems with the drone performance, causing crashes and ultimately leading to the cancellation of an additional planned display on May 1st.
Even with the delay, the rehearsal on April 28 showcased intricate formations highlighting Vietnam’s history and progress. The drones depicted various visuals including national symbols, historic events, and urban landscapes.
The drone display was orchestrated by DAMODA — a renowned Chinese firm celebrated internationally for its extensive aerial shows — and meticulously developed in collaboration with the event’s Vietnamese planners.
This isn’t DAMODA’s first Guinness World Record. It previously set a 10,000-drone record at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 2024 and has supplied drone systems for a number of other major events, including Expo 2020 Dubai.
DAMODA said its drones performed reliably during the performance, despite heat and signal interference, and the company claims over 10,000 performances to date with no accidents and a 99.999% reliability rate.
