Dehradun (Uttarakhand), India, April 30 (ANI): On Wednesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami examined the Surya Drone Tech-2025 initiative at Jaswant Ground in Garhi Cantonment, Dehradun.

The Chief Minister engaged with the relevant officials and piloted a drone during the Surya Drone Tech-2025 event.

The Surya Drone Tech-2025 program is a landmark defence technology event organised by the Indian Army’s Central Command in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM).

The event, taking place from April 29-30, 2025, at Jaswant Ground in Dehradun Cantonment, exhibited advanced drone and counter-drone technology designed specifically for the Indian military forces.

The event featured live demonstrations showcasing real-time operations of sophisticated drone technology, such as reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles, loitering weapons, and defenses against drones.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Dhami arrived at Yamunotri to inaugurate the start of the Char Dham pilgrimage.

The gates of Shri Yamunotri Dham were inaugurated on April 30, with CM Dhami present at the event.

While speaking to reporters, Dhami said that the government monitors the situation from every angle and ensures that pilgrims do not face any problems.

He mentioned that the number of pilgrims visiting the state has risen because of the efforts undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi across all the sacred sites.

He mentioned that helicopter arrangements are being organized to evaluate the destruction throughout the area surrounding the Yamuna Ghat incident.

“We are closely observing the situation from multiple angles to make sure that the Char Dham Yatra pilgrims encounter no issues… The pilgrimage to Yamunotri Dham presents somewhat greater challenges compared to the others. To address this, we are developing a comprehensive strategy… Since 2014, the number of pilgrimages has risen substantially, thanks to efforts carried out across all four Dhams under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In light of an incident at the Yamuna Ghat which caused significant damage near the complex, plans are underway to deploy large helicopters for assistance,” said Chief Minister Dhami to journalists.

He went on to say that the Char Dham Yatra holds significance similar to a festival for residents of Uttarakhand and highlighted that the administration’s objective is to ensure the pilgrimage is secure, convenient, and trouble-free.

The Char Dham pilgrimage has started as the gates of Gangotri and Yamunotri have been unlocked. This event feels like a celebration for the residents of Uttarakhand. Every preparation necessary has been completed. Our aim is to ensure that this journey remains secure, straightforward, and free from difficulties. Different agencies have put plans into action. We’ll continue our efforts to make sure pilgrims can travel with ease,” he mentioned additionally.

Following the commencement of the Char Dham Yatra 2025 on Wednesday, over 22 lakhs pilgrims have signed up for the spiritual journey at the Rishikesh Transit Camp located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. (ANI)
