### Windows 11 Unlocks New Customization Features
Windows 11 is gearing up for a significant boost in customization options with the upcoming Windows 11 25H2 update. Soon, users will have the ability to move their volume and brightness indicators anywhere they like on the screen.
This much-anticipated feature will provide placement options such as the top left, top center, and the default bottom center position. However, it seems some choices are intentionally limited to prevent interference with essential interface elements like the Start menu.
For years, Windows 11 has been criticized for its lack of flexibility in customization. After launching in 2021, the system restricted on-screen indicators to a fixed bottom-center location. But this change reflects Microsoft’s recognition of user feedback and a desire to enhance the overall experience.
The new settings can be found in the Settings menu under System > Notifications. Here, you’ll be able to choose from three placement options: bottom center, top left, or top center. The top left option harkens back to Windows 10, allowing users to revert to a familiar feel, while the new top center option introduces a middle-of-the-road choice.
However, don’t expect to position the indicators along the sides of the screen. This limitation is likely in place to avoid potential clash with core navigation features, particularly the left-aligned Start menu. By keeping these indicators confined to designated areas, Microsoft ensures a seamless user experience without overlap.
This update is just one of several promising customization tweaks on the horizon. Alongside a refreshed Start menu and options for modifying the size of items in the taskbar, Microsoft appears committed to enhancing user personalization in Windows 11.
While these updates may not restore the extensive customization options of previous Windows versions, they represent a positive shift toward giving users more control. As we await the full rollout of 25H2, there’s also a possibility that some of these features could appear sooner in the 24H2 update.
