Yesterday, Ubisoft announced that Rainbow Six Siege had been compromised, prompting them to shut down the game’s servers and marketplace to address the situation. Hackers managed to take control of a significant portion of the game’s systems, allowing them to ban and unban players, send custom messages to the ban ticker, unlock all in-game items, and grant every player 2 billion R6 Credits and Renown.
Ubisoft sells R6 Credits in its store, with 15,000 credits priced at $99.99. This means that the actual cash value of 2 billion R6 Credits is approximately $13.33 million. Ubisoft clarified that no one would face penalties for using any credits they received. However, any transactions made after 11:00 AM UTC on Saturday (6 AM ET) will be rolled back to prevent abuse. As of this writing, services have not yet been restored. We’ve reached out to Ubisoft for further comment and will provide updates as they become available.
