Twitch has announced a series of exciting updates at TwitchCon Europe aimed at enhancing the user experience for both streamers and viewers. Among the key features highlighted are the introduction of vertical livestreams and an open beta test for higher-quality streaming.
Vertical Livestreaming: A Game Changer for Mobile Users
One of the most significant updates is the rollout of vertical livestreaming, designed to improve viewing experiences on mobile devices. This feature allows streamers to present their content in portrait mode, catering to the increasing number of users who consume media on their smartphones. Soon, Twitch users will not be restricted to choosing between vertical or horizontal streams; the platform plans to enable dual-format streaming. Initial testing for this feature is set to begin with a select group of channels this summer, with broader access anticipated later in the year.
Enhanced Streaming Quality with 2K Support
In addition to vertical streams, Twitch is launching an open beta for “2K streaming,” enabling creators to broadcast at 1440p resolution. This upgrade significantly enhances video quality, offering richer detail and improved clarity compared to standard 1080p streaming. According to Twitch, this advancement is particularly beneficial for a variety of content types, whether gaming, art creation, or casual conversations. Previously, this feature was available only in a limited capacity, but it is now being opened up to all Twitch partners and affiliates.
