TD Africa, the leading tech distribution company in Sub-Saharan Africa, has announced the successful graduation of 400 young Nigerian women from its flagship TecHERdemy programme.
It said in a statement that the graduation ceremony, held on April 17, 2025, at Yudala Heights, Lagos, marked the culmination of six months of intensive, hands-on training in Cybersecurity, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Development.
The initiative, launched in November 2024, aims to equip young women with globally relevant digital skills and create pathways to careers in technology.
According to the statement, the event celebrated not just the academic achievements of the participants but also a larger vision of inclusion and empowerment in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
The event drew notable figures in the Nigerian tech industry, including the Chairman of Zinox Group, Dr Leo Ekeh, who delivered a keynote address celebrating the graduates.
He described them as “the pioneers of a new, inclusive era of tech leadership on the continent.”
Ekeh praised the resilience and brilliance of the young women, expressing confidence in their ability to make lasting contributions to Africa’s tech space.
He also called for more investment in inclusive digital education to accelerate progress on the continent.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of TD Africa, Mrs Chioma Ekeh, urged the graduates to pursue their careers with a strong sense of purpose and integrity.
“Hold tightly to your values. Let integrity guide your work, let innovation fuel your dreams, and let your impact speak louder than your résumé,” she said.
Fifteen outstanding participants were recognised for exceptional performance and leadership during the program, further highlighting the transformative impact of TecHERdemy.
Graduates shared personal stories of perseverance and breakthroughs, underscoring the role of access, mentorship, and community in shaping their success.
This program transformed my life,” stated Yetunde Kayode, a graduate and recently accredited data scientist. “I’m leaving here feeling empowered, equipped with new skills, and profoundly thankful to Mrs. Ekeh and the TecHERdemy team for their belief in us.
TD Africa mentioned that the TecHERdemy program is an integral component of their larger dedication to closing the gender gap within the technology sector and enhancing digital access throughout Nigeria.
“The conclusion of this graduation marks not only the end of a program but also the dawn of a more vibrant and equitable future for technology in Africa,” the firm stated.
