In the Palm of Your Hand – Smartphone Festival’s 11th Year Kicks Off! The SmartFone Flick Fest (SF3) is Now Open for Entries!
Australia’s largest international festival for smartphone filmmakers is back for its 11th year, and we’re excited to announce that entries are open until September 1.
This amazing film festival attracts hundreds of entries from Australia and around the world—welcoming filmmakers of all ages—and offers over $50,000 in prizes across five categories.
This year’s categories include: The SF3 Gala Finals, SF3 Kids, Feature Films, SF3 Mini for films 3 minutes or less (with this year’s theme being ‘Breath’), and the second annual SF3 AI category.
All finalist films will be showcased the weekend of November 7th at the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, Sydney.
This fantastic celebration of smartphone cinema will feature red-carpet premieres, a film sound masterclass hosted by our Major Sponsor Rode, Networking Parties, Screenings, and Award Ceremonies. Plus, audience members can vote on their favorites! In the months leading up to the finals, we’re also offering free masterclasses covering a variety of creative and technical topics, including film adaptation, screenwriting, and music composition.
A total of 36 awards will be presented, including the prestigious ‘gongs’: SF3 Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Screenplay, Best Feature Film, and SF3 Best Kids Film. Special prizes will include the SF3 & Blackmagic Camera Award, the SF3 & Spineless Wonders Best Adaptation Award, the SF3 First Nations Award, and the SF3 & WIFT Best Female Creative Award.
The SF3 and Chicken & Chips Best Pitch Award is returning as well! Filmmakers are encouraged to submit either a one-page or one-minute pitch for a film to [email protected] by June 17th. This film can be any genre up to 20 minutes long and must be created for SF3 2025. One pitch will be selected by the team at Chicken & Chips Casting for professional casting.
There’s even more to share—including news about judges, ambassadors, and prizes—so check out the full release (available in both Word doc and PDF formats) for all the details!
SF3 will take place from November 7th-9th at the Palace Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, NSW.
