Sony’s entire lineup of PlayStation 5 consoles saw a price hike in August due to increased US tariffs, but now you can save $100 on several models through Christmas. This is a great opportunity, especially if you’ve been eyeing Sony’s PS5 Pro, which is their most powerful and expensive console to date. Usually priced at $749.99, it’s currently available for about $689.99 at Amazon, Walmart, and Target. According to Sony’s PlayStation Direct store, this PS5 Pro sale ends on December 25th at 3 AM ET, although discounts on cheaper models might still be available.

The PS5 Pro delivers many games at their best resolution and doesn’t compromise on visual effects like ray tracing and shadow quality as much as the standard PS5 does. Some games look noticeably better or run faster on the Pro compared to the base model, while others simply perform better. However, keep in mind that the PS5 Pro doesn’t come with a disc drive, so it can only play digital titles, although you can purchase an optional drive for $80 if you want to attach one later.

With a bigger GPU than any other PS5 model, the PlayStation 5 Pro also packs double the internal storage of the current slim models—2TB compared to 1TB. Additionally, it features PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution), an exclusive that uses AI to enhance graphics in supported games for improved visuals. You’ll notice a significant performance difference between the Pro and the standard PS5 in various games, but as of now, there hasn’t been a title that makes upgrading a must-have. Still, if a lower price is just what you needed to consider an upgrade, now is an excellent time to buy.
