Razer Introduces New Browser Tool for Keyboard Customization

Posted on

Razer has rolled out a beta version of a new online customization tool that works with several models of its Huntsman V3 Pro keyboards. The Razer Synapse Web isn’t meant to fully replace the Synapse 4 desktop app; rather, it’s designed as a more streamlined option that you can access via your browser, particularly when you don’t have the time or ability to install the desktop software.

Right now, Razer Synapse Web is available for testing and works exclusively with Chromium-based browsers such as Google Chrome, Opera, Brave, and Microsoft Edge. Initially, it supports the Razer Huntsman V3 Pro 8KHz, Huntsman V3 Pro TKL 8KHz, and Huntsman V3 Pro Mini keyboards, with plans to add support for more devices as they develop the platform.

This browser-based tool is referred to as a “lightweight tuning hub” and will not provide all the features of Razer’s desktop software. However, users can still adjust settings and access “core features” through simpler controls. It allows you to view, edit, and save existing custom profiles on a connected device, as well as utilize Razer Chroma RGB quick effects lighting presets like fire, ripples, and cycling through colors.

Even with its limited capabilities, Synapse Web offers an appealing alternative for gamers who are managing multiple desktop apps for other devices. It’s also not a completely new concept; companies like Keychron already provide extensive browser-based configuration tools for their keyboards, as do those using open-source firmware like QMK.
