‘Pluribus’: Breaking Bad Creator’s New Show Emphasizes Human Touch Over AI

If you watched the new Apple TV show “Pluribus” until the very end, you might have noticed a unique disclaimer in the credits: “This show was made by humans.”

This concise message, sitting right below a note stating that “animal wranglers were on set to ensure animal safety,” could inspire other filmmakers to clarify that their projects were created without generative AI.

To drive the point home, creator Vince Gilligan—who is well-known for “Breaking Bad”—made his feelings clear in a Variety feature, stating, “I hate AI.” He described the technology as “the world’s most expensive and energy-intensive plagiarism machine,” likening AI-generated content to “a cow chewing its cud—an endlessly regurgitated loop of nonsense.”

“Thank you, Silicon Valley!” he added. “Yet again, you’ve f—ed up the world.”

“Pluribus” marks Gilligan’s return to science fiction, bringing him back together with Rhea Seehorn, his “Better Call Saul” star. She plays a romantasy author who faces an alien invasion.
