This shift in branding was echoed by legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto during the inauguration of Nintendo’s first museum last year, where he reiterated that the essence of the company lies in entertainment.

The company is strategically rolling out new initiatives while still focusing on its gaming roots. The launch of the Switch 2 — the successor to its record-breaking console — illustrates this dual approach of innovation without straying too far from a winning formula.

The Switch 2: A Safer Evolution

The Switch 2 reflects a calculated approach towards innovation. Retaining the iconic form factor of its predecessor, the new console features an enhanced display, upgraded performance, and reimagined controllers. With the original Nintendo Switch surpassing 150 million units in sales over the past eight years, the company aims to refine a proven concept rather than risk deviating too much from what has already worked.

The first two major exclusive titles set for the Switch 2, Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, align with this vision.
