(ICCC) located at Treasury Square,

, on Friday.
The Chief Minister showed gratitude towards the CCTV network, which currently spans nearly all heavily populated regions.

He stated that although the system is primarily focused on monitoring, it plays a vital role in ensuring safety and maintaining public order.
He stressed that, if expanded to additional regions, the facility would prove advantageous not just for surveillance purposes.

The city as well as the surrounding areas would greatly benefit from this. Additionally, it would be particularly valuable in Disaster-Prone Zones and during Emergency Response scenarios.
He emphasized the importance of streamlined operations and tight collaboration with pertinent departments to ensure the center functions at optimal efficiency.
At a meeting held in the Command Center, the Minister

highlighted the real-time surveillance capabilities of the centre.
He stated that an event circulating on social media platforms — like “an individual getting attacked by a gang of young people armed with guns” — was verified as untrue thanks to this resource.

The Smart City project detailed its operational setup, indicating that 237 regular CCTV cameras along with 39 PTZ cameras were deployed at 76 crucial sites throughout the area.

The PTZ cameras can zoom in sharply for individual identification, and facial recognition technology has been implemented at five key sites.
Moreover, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems have been deployed to track traffic offenses and vehicle activity.
Large-screen Variable Message Displays (VMDs) have been set up at five sites and are currently utilized for sharing public information. Additionally, free Wi-Fi services are available at 15 different spots.

The ICCC is currently ranked within the top three positions in India. Video recordings are kept for around 30 days; crucial information is stored long-term, whereas unnecessary clips are permanently erased.
The system has recognized around 600 instances since being put into use.
The Toyota Company, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, has recently provided extra equipment for the
Aizawl
Traffic Management system, including more CCTV infrastructure. These assets will be integrated into the ICCC network.

Ven Buk (ICCC) was officially inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on April 1, 2023, with a total project cost of Rs. 87.18 crore. The monthly operational cost is around Rs. 7.8 lakh.
To ensure accessibility for everyone, the facility can be used for a small charge of Rs 100.
The Chief Minister was accompanied during his visit by Lalmalsawma Pachuau, who serves as the Secretary of Planning and UD&PA, along with officials from the UD&PA department.
