Microsoft is set to discontinue its Lens scanner app for iOS and Android in the coming months. Known primarily as Office Lens, the app will no longer receive support after February 9th, and it will stop functioning completely after March 9th. The features that Lens offered, such as scanning documents, are now available directly in OneDrive, rendering the need for a standalone app unnecessary. Users can still capture images of whiteboards, documents, and receipts, and save and edit them digitally in OneDrive. These images can also be converted into Word or PDF documents and adjusted for cropping and rotation. Microsoft launched the Office Lens app for iOS and Android back in 2015, following its initial debut on Windows Phone. It was a standout for its unique integration with Office and was part of Microsoft’s push for “mobile-first” apps a decade ago.
