Kwara Varsity Elevates 28 Lecturers to Professorial Ranks: An International Update

The Governing Council of Kwara State University in Malete has endorsed the elevation of three lecturers to the position of professor, alongside granting promotions to twenty-five individuals to the role of associate professor.

At its 73rd assembly on Thursday, the council approved the promotion, as stated by Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the Acting Director of University Relations, in an official announcement.

Aliyu stated that the recently promoted professors come from the schools of Agriculture, Arts, and Education.

The statement indicated that the new professors include Professor Shehu Salau, who specializes in Agricultural Production Economics; Professor Moshood Zakariyah, an expert in Sociolinguistics; and Professor Olayiwola Olorisade, specializing in Educational Administration.

The associate professors come from the departments of Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Law, Management and Social Sciences, as well as Pure and Applied Sciences.

The statement added, “The Faculty of Agriculture has Latifat Olatinwo and Felicia Olooto, both Agric Extension and Rural Development specialists; Dr. Olarinke Adeniyi, a specialist in Aquaculture Management; Adebayo Ojo with specialisation in Entomology; and Dr. Akeem Raji, a specialist in Food Processing Technology.

From the Faculty of Arts, Yahya Muritala, who specializes in Arabic Syntax and Modern Arabic Linguistics and Translation; Yunusa Jamiu, an expert in Modern Arabic Literature; Oluwatoyo Adeoti, with expertise in Pragmatics and Discourse Studies; Sherifat Hussain-Abubakar, specializing in Islamic Family Law and Gender Studies; and Dr. Khalid Bello, a specialist in Islamic Economics—were all confirmed as associate professors.

The Faculty of Engineering has conferred Associate Professor titles upon three specialists: Olalekan Ogunbiyi, who focuses on Power Systems and Automatic Control Engineering; Rasheed Amao Busari, an expert in Farm Power and Machinery; and Olufemi Oladosu, a specialist in Production and Renewable Energy.

Usman Saadu from the Faculty of Education, specializing in Educational Psychology, along with Ronke Babatunde from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, focusing on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, were approved by the Governing Council for promotion to associate professor.

The statement noted that Olariyike Akintoye and Abdullahi Ishola, both of the Faculty of Law, and with specialisation in Property and Business Law, and Islamic Law, respectively, were also confirmed as associate professors.

The statement indicated that the council equally approved the promotions of Abdullahi Alibi, an expert in Comparative Politics and Administration; Idris Muhammad, a specialist in Development Studies and Local Government Administration; and Ibrahim Salawu, a specialist in Public Policy and Governance, all to the position of associate professor.

“At the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Anyachukwu Irondi, who specializes in Food and Nutritional Biochemistry; Dr. Abdulazeez Jimoh, an expert in Numerical Analysis and Computational Mathematics; Kazeem Issa, specializing in Numerical Analysis; Dr. Wasiu Yahya, a specialist in Theoretical and Computational Physics; and Abiodun Obembe, whose expertise lies in Entomology, were all approved for promotion to Associate Professor,” the statement noted.
