The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the delisting of five Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres that failed to meet the stringent technical standards required for the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Board revealed that over 900,000 candidates have successfully finished the UTME from the total registration of 2,083,600 for the exam scheduled in 2025.

In a press release from Public Communications Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, on Friday, he outlined the locations impacted as follows: Adventure Associate situated behind SheShe Supermarket along Hadejia Road in Kano City within Kano State; Saadatu Rimi College of Education located off Zaria Road at Naibawa area in Kano City also under Kano State jurisdiction; Center No. 2 for Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd positioned on the 96km Sokoto-Jega Road in Tambuwal town; and finally, Center No. 1 for the same company found likewise on the 96km Sokoto-Jega Road but specifically in Tambuwal.

The exam body commended 883 other centres that have demonstrated exceptional performance and warned that any centre that fails to meet ethical or technical standards, regardless of ownership, will be blacklisted.

The announcement advised candidates initially slated to sit for their exams at the de-listed centers to promptly print updated examination advisories to obtain information about their revised test locations and new date schedules.

We apologize for any disruption caused, however, we cannot accept explanations from candidates who do not reprint their forms to obtain their updated schedules.

“As of Friday, 25th April, 2025, over 900,000 candidates have successfully completed the UTME out of the 2,083,600 registered for the 2025 examination,” the statement said.

The statement further revealed that 27 impersonators have been apprehended and handed over to the Nigeria Police for immediate prosecution.

Meanwhile, JAMB has been alerted to unauthorized restrictions imposed on candidates wearing hijabs. Swift action has been taken to address this unilateral decision, which has been categorically condemned by the Vice-Chancellor of the university.

Benjamin, in the statement, noted that the misguided action was the result of an overzealous security officer.

We sincerely apologize to the candidates who were impacted and applaud the swift action taken by the center and the university’s leadership, ensuring that none of them faced an unfair setback.
