New Delhi [India], April 11 (ANI): During his address at the 9th Carnegie Global Tech Summit on Friday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that it is not currently appropriate to reach any conclusions regarding this matter.

When questioned about whether the administration was contemplating a potential prohibition on the
Chinese AI platform
DeepSeek
, similar to the Chinese social media application TikTok, Jaishankar stated he would prefer to remain vague for now.

“I will deliberately avoid giving a direct response. To be candid, I do not believe there has been any conclusion made at present,” he stated.

Previously, on February 25, the Delhi High Court declined to expedite an emergency hearing for a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) aiming to direct blocking of

in India.

The bench, headed by the Chief Justice of Delhi, noted that users can choose not to use the service.

If it presents a danger, indicating that if it is detrimental, they are under no obligation to utilize it. The court stated that there is no justification for demanding an immediate hearing.

On February 12, the court requested the legal representative of the Union government to obtain instructions regarding the case. The matter was rescheduled for February 20 but couldn’t be addressed because of insufficient time. Consequently, the new date set was April 16.

On February 5, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India plans to unveil its inaugural foundational Artificial Intelligence model within approximately 10 months. He mentioned that the government intends to launch an open-source model similar to China’s ‘

‘ on Indian servers.

This occurs as a Chinese startup has posed a challenge to the global AI sector. The minister emphasized the importance of viewing India’s AI initiative from a broader perspective. He mentioned that India had sanctioned the AI program earlier in the previous year, allocating approximately Rs 10,000 crore for this purpose. (ANI)
