New Delhi [India], April 11 (ANI): The Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India,
Ajay Sood
On Friday, they confirmed that India will develop its own version of Chat-GPT. Nevertheless, they recommended not replicating other major language models (LLMs), but instead focusing on specific sectors with a tailored approach to foster innovation.

Conversing with ANI at the
Carnegie’s 9th International Technology Summit
,
Ajay Sood
He stated, “India will develop its own version of Chat-GPT. We should not merely replicate something like DeepSeek, which boasts 40 billion parameters and is tailored for specific sectors. Instead, multiple specialized frameworks could coexist within these sectors, showcasing innovation. This is the type of approach we ought to adopt rather than mindlessly following others.”

When discussing the regulatory framework for Artificial Intelligence, Sood mentioned that the aim is to develop a techno-legal approach tailored to specific sectors so as not to stifle innovation. He stressed that broad rules could hinder creativity and noted that the government intends to encourage advancement.

and at the same time ensure safety.

“Regarding the regulatory process, we have progressed with
AI
governance, which takes care of transparency and ensures credibility. All that framework was ready. We did public consultation, and after that, we are finalising it. MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) is the nodal department and will be finalising this. Our idea in the regulatory framework is to use a techno-legal framework, and we will have sector-specific, not generic, rules and regulations that will kill innovation. We don’t want to kill invation. We want to promote innovation, and at the same time, we want

In the
AI
Summit that happened in Paris back in February,
PM Modi
also mentioned that India is constructing its own
Large Language Model
.

“India is developing its own extensive language model, taking into account our rich diversity. We also have a distinctive collaboration between public and private sectors aimed at consolidating resources such as computational power. This facility is offered to our start-ups and researchers at a reasonable price. India is prepared to share its insights and proficiency to make sure that

“The future belongs to the virtuous and will remain so forever,” stated the Prime Minister.

Additionally, they pointed out the potential risks associated with Artificial Intelligence, including deepfakes and misinformation, and encouraged global leaders to make the technology more accessible to the public while also focusing on reskilling individuals.

PM Modi
highlighted that the technology needs to be grounded in the local environment and should boost trust and transparency, focusing more on people to address cybersecurity worries.

We should create open-source systems that boost trust and transparency. It’s crucial to construct high-quality data centers devoid of biases, as well as to make technology accessible to everyone and design user-centric apps. Additionally, we need to tackle issues such as cybersecurity threats, misinformation, and deepfake content. Furthermore, ensuring that tech solutions are integrated into local environments will maximize their impact and relevance.
