Gmail Spam Issues and Misclassification Troubles

If your Gmail account is acting up today, you’re definitely not the only one.

According to Google Workspace’s official status dashboard, the problems started around 5 am Pacific time on Saturday. Users are reporting issues with emails being misclassified in their inbox and receiving extra spam warnings.

For instance, my Primary inbox was overflowing with messages that would usually end up in the Promotions, Social, or Updates tabs, while spam warnings popped up for emails from trusted senders.

Others have taken to social media to share their frustrations, noting that “all the spam is going directly to my inbox” and that Gmail’s filters appear to be “suddenly completely busted.”

Google has acknowledged the situation, stating, “We are actively working to resolve the issue.” They also remind users to follow standard best practices when dealing with messages from unknown senders.
