Elgato Unveils Innovative “Stream Deck Everywhere” Strategy at Computex

Introduction of Virtual Stream Deck and Modular Accessories

Elgato has officially launched its exciting “Stream Deck Everywhere” initiative at Computex, introducing a range of innovative solutions designed to expand the versatility of the Stream Deck platform. This new strategy encompasses a software-based virtual Stream Deck for PCs, a network dock accessory, and unbranded Stream Deck modules aimed at enhancing integration with various hardware products.

Enhanced User Experience with Scissor-Switch Keys

As part of this initiative, Elgato revealed a new version of the MK.2 Stream Deck, featuring scissor-switch keys intended to deliver improved speed and precision. This upgrade allows users to experience a tactile feedback similar to traditional keyboard keys, making it easier to identify successfully pressed buttons without the need to visually check the device. Priced at $149.99, this variant will be available in approximately two weeks.

Expanding Access with Stream Deck Modules

Elgato’s Stream Deck Modules are specifically designed for hobbyists and manufacturers, providing an easy way to incorporate functionality into various hardware projects without the need for custom macropad solutions. Available in configurations of 6, 15, and 32 keys, these modules feature a sturdy aluminum chassis suitable for integration into custom setups including bases, machinery, and furniture. The pricing for these modules starts at $49.99 for the six-key version, $129.99 for the 15-key version, and $199.99 for the 32-key version. Discounts are available for bulk purchases.

Introduction of Virtual Stream Deck (VSD)

In addition to the hardware developments, Elgato is launching a software-only version of the Stream Deck, known as the Virtual Stream Deck (VSD). This application enables users to create a permanent macro menu on their computer screens or summon it on-demand through designated hotkeys and mouse buttons. Initially, VSD will be available to users of Corsair’s Scimitar Elite Wireless SE mouse, Xenon Edge touchscreen, or any existing Stream Deck model, with plans to expand compatibility to additional devices later.

For users seeking custom layouts, additional virtual faceplates, and support for more than six buttons, a Pro subscription will be required, beginning at $2.99 monthly or $49.99 for a one-time purchase. Notably, the desktop version of VSD will not be subscription-based but requires installation of the Stream Deck 7.0 beta.

Stream Deck Network Dock for Enhanced Flexibility

Elgato also announced a new $79.99 Stream Deck network dock accessory. This innovative product supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing users to position their Stream Deck buttons in any location with network access, thus enhancing spatial flexibility compared to standard USB-C connections. The Stream Deck network dock is expected to begin shipping in August.

Conclusion

With the introduction of these groundbreaking products, Elgato is poised to broaden the Stream Deck platform’s accessibility, appealing to a diverse range of users from developers and DIY enthusiasts to manufacturers looking for reliable interface solutions. As Julian Fest, Elgato’s general manager, stated, “Stream Deck isn’t just a device—it’s a platform.”
