EA to Skip Next Year’s F1 Game, Focus on Update DLC Instead

EA has announced some significant updates for its F1 racing series. Instead of launching a brand new game next year, the company will be offering a paid expansion for F1 25 as part of what they call “a strategic reset for the F1 Franchise.” The next full F1 game, which is touted to be a “reimagined” experience, is set to debut in 2027.

The 2026 DLC for F1 25 is described as a “premium content update” that will align with major changes in the sport for the upcoming season, including new cars, sporting regulations, teams, and drivers, according to EA’s press release. (F1 cars are facing some significant changes next year that the DLC will need to reflect.) Details on the timing and pricing of the expansion will be shared sometime in 2026.

While EA hasn’t provided many specifics about the 2027 game, they promise it will offer “a deeply authentic and innovative representation of the action and thrill of Formula 1, reimagined into a more expansive experience with new ways to play for fans around the world.” This initiative is part of a multi-year strategic investment in the EA Sports F1 franchise, backed by support from both Formula One Management and the F1 teams.
