Creators and Communities Unite Against ICE

It’s not surprising to see someone who’s been vocal about the issues of late-stage capitalism on Instagram for the last five years turning their attention to ICE. But recently, there’s been a noticeable shift as even accounts dedicated to more light-hearted topics like golfing, chopping wood, and playing with cats have begun to voice their concerns.

Things took a sharper turn on social media yesterday after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by ICE. Even the moderator of the normally politics-averse r/catbongos subreddit, which is all about enjoying videos of cats being played like bongos, posted that “If you still support Trump/ICE even slightly, you’re not welcome in this sub.”

Notable figures have also joined in, such as Joe Santagato from The Basement Yard podcast, who described the situation in Minneapolis as “legit horrifying.” When someone urged him to “Stay out of politics” and suggested he stick to his usual antics, he cleverly responded with, “De-jumble this: ksuc ym slalb.”

Canadian wrestlers and social influencers Chris and Patrick Vörös have previously shared their anti-ICE stance, and they took the chance to remind everyone of the only two ICE agents they support. The educational YouTube channel Primer also weighed in on X, stating that this issue is no longer just about politics but about the “fabric of society.”

Even musician bbno$ decided to speak out, risking his visa and U.S. tour to support the abolish ICE movement. Thoren Bradley, known as the Axe Man and famous for his wood-chopping persona, has also called out the hypocrisy of Christian conservatives to his 10.7 million followers.

Let us know in the comments which other creators and communities have started speaking out.
