Innovative Electric Scooter Olto Launches from Infinite Machine in NYC

A Transformative Space for a Transformative Product

In 2023, Infinite Machine made headlines with its unique electric scooter, reminiscent of the Cybertruck, showcasing it outside a cozy garage in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Recently, the startup has upgraded its operations to a spacious, renovated warehouse in Long Island City, Queens. This new setting features high ceilings, a fresh aesthetic, additional staff, modern machinery, and a showroom for the highly anticipated P1 scooter, which started shipping this month.

Introducing the Olto: A Game-Changer in E-Biking

While the P1 scooter targets a niche market—largely due to the motorcycle licensing requirement and a lack of widespread scooter culture in the U.S.—Infinite Machine has shifted its focus to a broader audience with the launch of the Olto. This innovative electric bike, developed over the past year, aims to attract riders who seek both functionality and style without traditional e-bike limitations.

Design and Functionality

The Olto features a groundbreaking design that blurs the line between a traditional sit-down scooter and an e-bike. Constructed from a combination of steel and aluminum, its sleek lines and modern curves create an aesthetically pleasing profile. Available in silver or black, the Olto is weather-resistant and specifically designed for outdoor parking, eliminating the need for cumbersome indoor storage.

One standout feature is the removable battery, conveniently located under the seat and accessible with a handlebar-mounted button. Riders can charge the UL-certified battery indoors after approximately 5.5 hours with the standard charger or around 3 hours using a quick charger.

Advanced Theft Protection with Infinite Security

Addressing concerns surrounding bike theft, Infinite Machine introduces the Infinite Security suite. Each Olto is equipped with GPS and internet connectivity, allowing users to locate their bike via a companion app available for both iOS and Android. For added security, an AirTag can be installed, and attempts to tamper with the bike will trigger an alarm that notifies the owner. Furthermore, the steering and motor lock to deter would-be thieves, while a secondary battery ensures operation for up to 30 days, even if the primary battery is removed. To further enhance security, there’s a designated U-lock attachment on the kickstand.

Customization and Accessories

Infinite Machine offers a selection of first-party accessories for Olto customers, including a phone mount, rear rack, and kid carrier, allowing for personalized configurations at the time of purchase. Additionally, there are mounting points available for third-party accessories, such as a drink holder.

User-Friendly Experience

Operating the Olto is straightforward; it can be powered on using a button, NFC tag, or through the app. Similar to modern electric vehicles, it features auto-lock and unlock capabilities based on proximity. A convenient internal pocket equipped with a USB-C port allows for phone charging, while a display on the handlebars shows battery status and mode.

Located conveniently on the right handlebar are controls for the twist throttle, reverse function, and a Boost option to enhance acceleration. The left side features turn signal buttons, a seat release for battery access, and a prominently loud horn. Riders can also toggle between high and low beam settings for the headlights. While rear-view mirrors are available as optional components, hydraulic disc brakes with internal wiring ensure a clean look and robust stopping power.

Comfortable Riding for Two

The Olto’s comfortable seat accommodates two passengers and includes pull-out footrests for passengers. For those interested in a more active riding experience, the driver’s footrests can convert into pedals, allowing riders to pedal along with the electric assist, potentially extending the bike’s range up to an estimated 40 miles. While the conversion process from footrest to pedals may initially seem complex, mastery can be achieved in just seconds.

Final Thoughts

With the Olto, Infinite Machine aims to redefine the electric bike space, appealing to a wider audience while addressing common e-biking concerns. As the company continues to innovate and expand, the Olto represents a significant leap forward in accessible and stylish urban transportation.
