The government has opted to digitalize the nation’s economy, assigning each ministry the responsibility of executing the necessary steps for this transition.
The decision to this effect was taken at a high level review meeting held in Islamabad on Thursday with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in the chair.
Following the decision, the Prime Minister instructed the pertinent agencies to promptly set up an active task force aimed at executing and overseeing the initiatives for digital transformation.

The Prime Minister stated that reforms are underway at both coordinated and institutional levels to ensure the changes are enduring and lasting.
He commended the effective digital wallet system that facilitated the distribution of the Ramadan packages and ordered for its implementation across additional sectors.
It was reported during the meeting that an ICT application has been introduced in Islamabad Capital Territory, offering access to over 150 governmental services.
The gathering learned that the amount of transactions via Rast Gateway has risen considerably. Meanwhile, the administration, working alongside the State Bank, is implementing measures to boost its utilization in everyday dealings.
It was reported during the meeting that the government is focusing on collecting digital transactions, offering multiple incentives for both consumers and enterprises to promote electronic payments over traditional currency exchanges, with an aim to fully transition governmental payouts to digital formats.
It was mentioned that all official payments of the federal government, such as salaries and other invoicing, are now conducted through the digital system.
