DJI Set to Launch New Drones and Action Camera

DJI, a leader in drone technology, is reportedly preparing to introduce three new drones: the Mini 5 Pro, Avata 3, and Neo 2. This information comes courtesy of DroneXL, which has released leaked images and videos of these upcoming models. In addition to the drones, a new FCC filing indicates that DJI is also developing a compact action camera, the DJI Osmo Nano.

Upcoming Drone Models

Mini 5 Pro: Enhanced Battery and Extended Range

According to recent reports, the Mini 5 Pro is expected to feature a significant upgrade in its battery capacity, boasting a 33.5Wh battery compared to the 18.9Wh battery of its predecessor, the Mini 4 Pro. This enhancement is anticipated to support improved performance and extended flight times. The leaked specifications also suggest that the Mini 5 Pro may offer impressive video streaming capabilities, with a range of up to 25 kilometers (15.5 miles)—an increase of 5 kilometers over its predecessor. The Mini 5 Pro is projected to be launched in September.

Avata 3: Design and Technical Improvements

The Avata 3 drone appears to be a successor to the Avata 2, showcasing several design changes and technical improvements. Notably, the Avata 3 features a repositioned battery that sits farther back and is equipped with a larger camera unit. Additionally, this model has transitioned from a three-blade propeller system to a more efficient four-blade configuration. DroneXL has also suggested that this drone is designed for improved aerodynamics and enhanced flight performance.

Neo 2: An Updated Prototype

Alongside the Avata 3, DroneXL has identified what seems to be a prototype of the Neo 2. While details remain limited, the Neo 2 is believed to have redesigned propeller guards, offering improved safety features compared to the original model.

DJI Osmo Nano: A New Action Camera

In tandem with its drone releases, DJI is also rumored to be launching the Osmo Nano, a new action camera that appears to incorporate a modular display similar to existing products in the Action line. This development underscores DJI’s commitment to diversifying its product offerings beyond drones.

Additional Future Releases

Beyond these significant launches, there are indications that DJI is also working on the Mic 3 and Osmo 360 camera, although timelines for these products have not yet been confirmed.

With these anticipated releases, DJI continues to solidify its prominence in the drone and action camera markets. As the September launch date approaches for the Mini 5 Pro, enthusiasts and industry observers alike are eagerly awaiting further announcements regarding these exciting new products.
