55 US AI Startups Securing Over $100M in Funding in 2025

The AI industry kicked off 2025 with impressive energy.

In 2024, there were 49 startups that secured funding rounds exceeding $100 million, according to TechCrunch’s tally. Notably, three companies managed to pull in more than one “mega-round,” and seven companies netted rounds of $1 billion or larger.

The momentum didn’t wane in 2025. Even though fewer companies raised rounds higher than $1 billion—four in total, with Anthropic raising two exceeding that mark—more companies participated in multiple funding rounds compared to 2024, totaling eight.

What will 2026 bring? Sam Altman’s brain-computer interface startup Merge Labs has already raised a $250 million seed round, led by OpenAI, and Elon Musk’s xAI has announced plans for a $20 billion Series E round in early 2026. So far, indications suggest another robust year ahead. However, as it’s still early in the year, we’ll keep a close eye on whether this momentum continues.
