Other Good Lubes
Over the years, we’ve tested dozens of different lubes, and some of them are pretty good if not exactly the best in any particular category. For those, we have this section.
LubeLife Water-Based Lubricant for $8
Not only does LubeLife make a stellar silicone lube, but their water-based options are impressive too. Right now, I’m really liking their latest water-based lube—it’s surprisingly long-lasting for a water-based product. It feels super smooth and 100% natural, plus it never develops that annoying sticky or tacky texture that some water-based lubes tend to get over time. I even noticed a slight sweetness when I tasted it. While I haven’t used this lube during oral sex, I can definitely see it being a great asset for that.
Playground Free Love Lube for $18
If you’re prone to UTIs, bacterial vaginosis (BV), or similar infections, this lube is worth considering. It’s scientifically proven to reduce and prevent vaginal issues. Free Love is also free from glycerin and fragrance, both of which can trigger yeast infections and irritation. It’s incredibly smooth and works well for avoiding friction, but its biggest selling point is its protective qualities against infections that some other lubes just can’t offer.
Dame Arousal Serum for $30
I’m not typically a fan of warming or tingling lubes, and I haven’t tried one that has fully convinced me. However, Dame’s Arousal Serum comes close. This warming, tingling, water-based lube uses peppermint oil, cinnamon leaf oil, and ginger oil to enhance sensations during sex. If you have sensitive skin, you might want to steer clear, but if you’re curious about a stimulating lube, I’d recommend giving this one a shot. Just try it on a non-genital area first to see how your skin reacts.
Maude Shine Water-Based Lube for $25
This used to be our top pick. It has a silky-smooth texture, although it’s on the thicker side for a water-based lube. Thicker water-based lubes usually last longer between applications. When you do the thumb test, this lube provides a slick but smooth cushion between your fingertips, which is a good sign it’s going to keep things nice and slick.
